Embody Life is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all clients and participants. This policy outlines our approach to protecting vulnerable adults and maintaining safe therapeutic boundaries.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Creating environments where people feel safe to explore difficult material
  • Maintaining clear professional boundaries at all times
  • Responding appropriately to any safeguarding concerns
  • Working within our competence and referring on when appropriate
  • Ongoing training and supervision in safeguarding matters

Confidentiality and Its Limits

What you share in sessions is confidential, with important exceptions:

  • Risk of harm — If we believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, we may need to break confidentiality to ensure safety
  • Legal requirements — We may be required to share information in cases involving terrorism, money laundering, or court orders
  • Professional supervision — We discuss our work in supervision to maintain quality; your identity is protected

We will always try to discuss any breach of confidentiality with you first, unless doing so would increase risk.

Working with Vulnerability

We recognise that therapeutic work can bring up vulnerable states. We:

  • Check in regularly about how you’re experiencing our work
  • Pace sessions to avoid overwhelm
  • Have clear protocols for supporting you between sessions if needed
  • Know when to refer to more intensive support

Concerning Disclosures

If you disclose something that raises safeguarding concerns, we will:

  • Listen without judgement
  • Clarify what you’re telling us
  • Explain any actions we need to take
  • Support you through the process
  • Document appropriately

All practitioners at Embody Life:

  • Are members of relevant professional bodies
  • Receive regular clinical supervision

  • Hold appropriate insurance
  • Have enhanced DBS checks where required
